Dating back to 1818, this style was brewed to coincide with the sixteen-day celebration in Munich. Although it is no longer stored in deep caves for the entire summer, Oktoberfest is now a fall favorite in Philadelphia. The light amber color is the result of the generous use of Munich malt, which also provides a toasty malt flavor. A touch of noble Saaz hops are added for balance and the beer is fermented slow and cool with German lager yeast, creating a crisp, clean malt flavor.
